We publish original journalism. Sometimes we get things wrong. When we do, we fix it β openly, on the record, and as quickly as we can.
Email [email protected] with:
A link to the article
The specific claim, quote, or fact you believe is incorrect
The correct information, if you have it
A source or document supporting the correction, where possible
You can also write to our mailing address β see the Contact page. We aim to acknowledge correction requests within two business days and resolve them within five.
Factual errors β wrong dates, names, numbers, quotes, attributions, or claims β are corrected directly in the article. A correction note appears at the bottom of the article (or top, for major errors) noting what was changed, when, and why.Typos and minor copy errors β spelling, punctuation, grammar β are fixed silently and do not receive a public note.Major errors β anything that materially changes the meaning of an article, misrepresents a person or organization, or undermines the central claim of a story β are corrected with a prominent note at the top of the article and, where warranted, an editor's note explaining what went wrong.Retractions β if an article is fundamentally wrong and cannot be salvaged through correction, we will retract it. The original article will be replaced with an explanation of what happened and why. We do not silently delete articles.
We don't unpublish stories because a subject doesn't like the coverage. We don't remove accurate, well-sourced reporting because someone is embarrassed by it. We don't accept threats, legal or otherwise, as a basis for editorial decisions. If you believe a story is defamatory, please direct legal correspondence to the mailing address on our Contact page.
We will be maintaining a running public log of corrections at /corrections-log. Each entry will include the article title, date, original wording, corrected wording, and date of correction.
